Norfolk Southern Q1-2023: How were our predictions?
More problems surface just as we said they would
DOT no. 4
Greetings,
Here is the latest in our on-going case study of national rail carrier Norfolk Southern, and what it says it is doing to abate the toxic fire/chemical spill aftermath in East Palestine, OH, where one of its 100+ cars derailed in February.
Should you care?
Remember, there are three criteria that I use to qualify the veracity and newsworthiness of information delivered by the media:
Should you care?
Who is speaking and on what authority?
What is their vested interest?
You might not live near East Palestine, OH, but perhaps you live near a busy railroad crossing. Or, perhaps you are an investor in N/S. Maybe you are an employee of a rail service.
Regardless, this is an instructive case study in how the field of crisis management is a way that experts use the media to manipulate your impressions of what is happening.
My premise all along for this case study is that there was a misalignment of values per what was being said by the rail carrier.
So, even if none of the above applies to you, this is an excellent case study using both reporting and astrology to show how information is not all that it might seem to be…
There was much I predicted and described in the previous installment of this Department of They (DOT) study, that I figured the best way to track and update would be to just cut and paste what I said before, although repeating only what is necessary to comment upon, and to do so by “answering” myself here.
As we can see, the chart I cast and the predictions I made, with Elisabeth’s sage input, have borne out.
